Friday at the Movies - Lift Me Up and Away!

Here is a card we will be making at club next month using this stamp set and framelits. Image

I did a watercolor wash for the sky on watercolor paper. I embossed the two smaller clouds using white embossing powder on pumpkin pie and daffodil delight cardstock. The clouds were cut using the framelits. The big balloon was easy to make, but it takes a bit of time to cut out all the pieces. Each layer behind the balloon is a separate framelit.

And a look at the inside of the card. Image

I really like the words with this stamp set. You can make such bright and cheerful cards. I hope you'll take some time today to make a card, too.

Have a great weekend.

Go Steelers!

Hey Chick!

I just love the Hey Chick stamp set that is free during Sale-a-bration. They make me smile every time I see them, especially the one with the funky feathers.

Image

The set comes with 3 chickens and one egg. I colored my chickens using crumb cake ink and an aqua painter for the body  and then my real red marker for the feathers.

I hope to enter the Sunday Stamps Challenge. They have a sketch this week that I used for the design of my card. I'm hoping I can enter the SU Only challenge which is to use anything new. It was hard to pick one of the new items from the Occasions Catalog since there are so many that are my favorites. I thought it was pretty nifty that I could enter two challenges with one card. I guess you could say 'I killed two birds with one stone'! (Not that I would kill any birds!).

Here is the inside of my card. I just had to use more of these stinkin' cute chickens. I hope you have time to make a card today. I'll be in Altoona, PA tonight at Hobby Lobby making cards with one of my clubs. Stop in and say 'Hi' if you are in the area.

Have a great day.

Way to go Steelers!!

Friday at the Movies - Inside the Lines Paper

Another item you can get for free during Sale-a-bration is this specialty paper. Watch the video and see several ways you can use it.

So you can use a brayer, colored pencils, markers, or whatever you like to use to color to create beautiful cards with this paper. But maybe you need a quick card and don't have time to do a lot of coloring. This month, the club members made the card below. they could pick calypso coral or melon mambo for their color scheme.

  Image

We used black paper and the stitched and layering squares framelits to make the frame. Then just colored inside the frame using watercolor pencils and a blender pen. This is a simple form of a technique called "spotlighting".

Image

The greeting is stamped on a shape from the Stylish Stems framelits. We embossed the words with white embossing powder. Of course the greeting had to be popped with dimensionals. And a card wouldn't look right if it didn't have a bling on it to make it sparkle, so the rhinestones were added. Here's the inside of the card.

I hope you liked seeing Inside the Lines paper in action. Remember, for every $50 you spend you can choose a free Sale-a-bration item. Have a great day.

Avant Garden

One of the best things about January is Stampin' Up's promotion called Sale-a-bration.  Free product when you spend $50 - who doesn't like free! So on this cold and icy day I'm playing with one of the free stamp sets called Avant Garden.

Image

I stamped the flowers using Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo stamping off the first time before stamping again. The leaves are Pear Pizzazz and the faint dots are Sahara Sand stamped off. I'm a sucker for those little dots on a card.

Image

l used the 2016 In Color Envelope paper for the stripes.  The design for this card came from TGIF Challenge (#tgifc90).  I hope I have time to submit my card.  Here is the inside.

I hope you have time to be creative today, too. Have a great weekend. Go Steelers!

So In Love - With This Color Combination

One of my goals for this year to to participate with sketch or color challenges. The Global Design Project has a different color challenge for this week - Delightful Dijon, Silver, and a color of my choice. I never used this color combination before, so I was a bit stumped at first. I decided I wanted flowers and so I used a technique we are doing at my clubs this month. I filled my aqua painter with rubbing alcohol and use it the same way to color the flowers. It reminds me of the Blendability pens Stampin' Up once sold. Here is my card.

Image

I used a variety of products on this card. The flowers are from the stamp set "So In Love". The words are from the set "Special Reason" which has matching framelits which I used to make the leaves. I've seen some really pretty cards using these framelits on Pinterest. I can't wait to play some more with this set.

Image

At the top of the card I used a small piece of Moroccan Designer Washi tape, a piece of leftover silver ribbon, and a staple to hold it all together. I used a small piece of Cupcakes and Carousels DSP along the side. This patterned paper helped me decide on my third color.

Image

I used Delightful Dijon to color the silver embossed flowers and then fussy cut them.I then added the silver leaves and silver wire behind the flowers. My 'free' color is Bermuda Bay. I really like how these 3 colors go together. I'll be using this combo again.  Here's the inside. I kept it simple.

I hoped you liked this card today and will try this combination, too. I also used the sketch # 225 from Paper Craft Crew Challenge to help design my card. You might want to try this sketch or see other samples on their web site.

Have a great day!
